Stinson Beach, Calif. – December 4, 2013 – PAX Water Technologies, the leader in advanced technologies for water distribution systems, today unveiled the installation of a PAX Water Mixer in a potable water storage tank operated by Stinson Beach County Water District in Marin, Calif. Located off of Panoramic Highway, the 210,000-gallon “Steep Ravine” tank contains potable drinking water for Stinson Beach residents and reserves for emergency situations, such as fires and earthquakes.

RICHMOND, Calif.  June 06, 2013  PAX Water Technologies, the leader in advanced water quality technologies for distribution systems, today announced the launch of the PAX Water Mixer (PWM100) for small water storage tanks. The PWM100 features a self-install design, allowing the unit to be easily lowered through the tank hatch, and a vortex flow pattern that is three times more powerful than sheet flow mixers. The mixer can be used to eliminate thermal stratification, reduce residual loss, lower disinfection byproducts and prevent ice formation.

RICHMOND, Calif. – June 6, 2012PAX Water Technologies, the leading provider of water quality tools for storage tanks, will unveil the Trihalomethane Removal System (TRS) at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE ‘12) in Dallas, Texas. Designed in partnership with Utility Service Company, Inc., the largest tank asset management company in the United States, TRS is a custom-designed aeration system for storage tanks that removes trihalomethanes from drinking water to help utilities comply with the EPA’s Stage 2 Disinfectants/Disinfection Byproducts Rule. The product will be featured at the ACE ‘12 New Product Technology Showcase.

No matter what a tank is made from, if it’s large enough and the water isn’t mixed enough, problems of quality, sedimentation, and nitrification can occur. Often, it happens during summer months when water in the upper portion of a tank warms faster than the lower portions, or vice versa in winter, plus the potential for ice damage. But either way, the thermal stratification prevents disinfectant chemicals from cycling throughout the tank, causing the process of nitrification, where naturally occurring microbes convert ammonia to nitrate. As the levels of nitrates increase, treatment chemical levels decrease, and bacterial growth can rise to the point of requiring a complete disposal of a tank’s contents.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., January 11, 2009 — PAX Water Technologies, working with sister company PAX Mixer, sponsored a unique collaborative design project with Petaluma High School’s Industrial Technology Program. In 2008, PAX Water invited students from the school’s Technology Pilot Program group to assist in a biomimicry project. Seven students (Sean Gushulak, Madeline Heggli, Tara Funk, Taylor Bihn, Rachael Gifford, Madeline Simmons, and Andrew Stevenson) accepted the challenge: propose designs that would extend the elegance and bio-functionality of the PAX Lily impeller into the rest of the mixer system.


PAX Awarded ATP Grant

SAN RAFAEL, Calif., November 5, 2007 — PAX Scientific, parent company to PAX Water Technologies, was awarded a prestigious Advanced Technology Program grant from the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This three-year, $1.9M research and development grant will support the expansion of a new class of industrial mixing technology based on PAX’s biomimetic design approach.
